Hello! it has been a while!
Okay, so... it's been 12 years since I last blogged. Somewhere along the way, blogging fell off my radar (life! clients! more life!), but I never wanted to stop sharing stories with you all. I was literally drowning in life (as illustrated in the photo above) but I'm back so consider this me hitting the "resume" button. I have mostly been sharing my work through Instagram, but realized I missed curating my images into a blog post and really telling the stories behind them. Social media has changed so much in the past ten years - it used to be about this curated grid of images you share, then came the videos and carousels and reels, and everyone's attention span got shorter and shorter. I'm hoping that by writing a bit more about shoots - how to prepare for them, what to expect — this gives you a more in-depth look at our photo sessions and working with me.
A quick catch-up on what's changed, because a lot has:
A big shift for me has been leaning more into personal brand and portrait photography for entrepreneurs - helping business owners figure out how to visually show up as themselves. It's been such a fun evolution, getting to sit with someone and figure out, okay, what does your brand actually look like on camera? It's part photography, part strategy session, and I love it.
But, at the heart of what I do hasn't moved an inch: I'm still deeply, happily in it with families and new couples. New families, growing families, families I've now photographed for years. Honestly, holiday season is my favorite time of year for exactly this reason - it's when I get to reconnect with people I've worked with, sometimes for a decade, and catch up on everything. New babies. New pets. Birthdays. Milestones. I get a front-row seat to watching these families grow up, year after year, and help capture the moments.
So that's the update. New chapter for the business, same love for the work, and now FINALLY I'm back to writing about it.
